The Children's Inn at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is a non-profit, free-of-charge residence for families and their children who are participating in groundbreaking pediatric research through NIH's Clinical Center. Families from all over the world turn to the Children's Inn when conventional treatments fail to sufficiently treat their children. Families come to the Inn seeking their last, best hope for treatments or cures for their children with illnesses such as cancer, heart, lung, blood, bone and growth disorders, mental illnesses, and HIV infection.
Located in Bethesda, Md., the Inn opened in 1990 and has hosted more than 13,000 children from all 50 states and more than 90 countries. The Inn provides children with a comprehensive and supportive environment that includes therapeutic, educational, and recreational programming. Most importantly, the Inn gives kids a place where they can just be kids again.
Leidos is a proud sponsor and longtime supporter of the Children's Inn. On Feb. 28, 2018, our Corporate Responsibility and Community Relations (CR2) team made a special visit to the Inn with the Leidos Scoop ice cream truck. The CR2 team joined a group of superhero volunteers to pass out treats and perform activities and crafts with the Inn's children and staff. Below are some photos from the visit:
