March 7, 2018 Leidos Editorial Team

In celebration of Women’s History Month in the United States and International Women’s Day (March 8th), we're highlighting five leading Leidos women from around the world. Click here to read about all five.

Jessica Griffin is a Senior Configuration Manager for our Advanced Solutions Group. She joined Leidos in 2016 and is currently based out of The Hague, Netherlands.

Jessica on her ... Professional Accomplishments:

"I started my career in the United States Air Force as a Communications Computer Systems Operator. I spent four years in the Air Force working in Network Operation Centers in Portugal and Italy which opened my eyes to the vastness of the Information Technology (IT) field. After the Air Force, I continued to support the military for 13 years as a Department of Defense contractor.

"I worked as a Systems Administrator, Desk Support Specialist and Desktop Support Lead for many years and eventually decided to specialize in Configuration Management. Three years ago, I started to support NATO as a contractor. My first position was at the NATO Special Operations Headquarters in Mons, Belgium and I currently support NATO Ballistic Missile Defence in The Hague, Netherlands. I have learned a lot from working with all branches of the military and look forward to continually learning from the Leidos team and the diverse multicultural environment that NATO offers."

Jessica on ... Leadership:

"The principles of effective and authentic leadership were instilled in me early during my time in the United States Air Force. I have used these principles throughout my career to successfully lead teams with varied experience and expertise. I believe it is important to be adaptive in the ever-changing IT career field and constantly learn from those around you."

Jessica on ... Service:

"I am a member of a group called Connecting Women in The Hague. Connecting Women is an English-speaking forum where women of different nationalities meet to share experiences, network and make connections. I enjoy meeting and building relationships with women from all over the world. We often share stories about our intercultural experiences and help each other deal with challenges that come with an expatriate life."

Jessica's Parting Thoughts:

"I have spent 15 years in Europe, lived in five countries and traveled to many more. Each country’s culture, language, architecture, and people are unique, and I have learned a lot from living and traveling around Europe. I especially enjoy the bicycle culture in the Netherlands, where there are more bikes than people. I often commute to work by bike and run daily errands on my bike, which is not possible in many cities. I believe it is important to integrate into the local culture and experience first-hand what your host nation has to offer."
