Brendan served in the Royal Australian Navy for 15 years, including two deployments to the Persian Gulf. He's currently a Protective Security and Facilities Manager for Leidos Australia.

Who or what inspired you to serve?

My father inspired me to serve. He spent 26 years in the Royal Australian Air Force.

What was your proudest moment?

Knowing that I played a part whilst deployed on important operational deployments. Making a difference to other people’s lives.

What do you miss most about your time in service?

I miss the time spent at sea, visiting new destinations. But most of all, I miss the comradeship. It's always good catching up with old shipmates, though.

How did your service change you?

A better acceptance of all walks of life. Understanding and appreciating the situations of others.

What’s something you want people to know about veterans that they might not know or realize?

Veterans are proud, adaptable, hardworking, very professional and have that steely look in their eye.

Why is Leidos a good place to work for veterans?

Leidos is a good place to work for veterans as it allows you to be part of an effective working team and you can demonstrate your transferable skills from service life to civilian life.
